With the NBA returning to NBC this fall, the network decided to celebrate in a monumental way: by inserting a gigantic version of Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander into the blockbuster world of Jurassic World Rebirth.
The spot, which debuted over the weekend during the first round of the NBA Playoffs, shows the film’s various characters — like mercenary Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), her right-hand man Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali), and paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) — dropping their jaws at the appearance of the “Gilgeousaurus.” He’s big, awe-inspiring, and able to dunk on a literal cliffside.

What is Jurassic World Rebirth about?
Jurassic Park and The Lost World scribe David Koepp returned to write the script for Rebirth, which takes place five years after the events of Dominion (stream it on Peacock now). While most of the escaped dinosaurs released at the end of Fallen Kingdom have died out, one hotspot of giant lizard activity remains: the very first island research facility set up by InGen decades before. In the years since the original park and InGen went extinct, the creatures on this island have grown and mutated out of control.
Hoping to take advantage of the largest specimens for revolutionary medical purposes, a pharmaceutical company stages an expedition to the remote landmass, with Bennett and Kincaid leading the charge. Naturally, things go awry almost immediately and numerous people become snacks for the genetically enginered abominations of land, sea, and air.
In addition to Johansson, Ali, and Bailey, Rebirth also stars Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, Ed Skrein.
Gareth Edwards, who knows a thing or two about giant reptiles after launching Legendary’s MonsterVerse with 2014’s Godzilla, directed the hotly-anticipated movie. Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg, of course, is back on board as an executive producer alongside Denis L. Stewart and Jim Spencer. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are producers.

“To me, it’s like a heist movie that meets all the films of Steven Spielberg I loved growing up,” Edwards teased during an interview with Vanity Fair. “The three films we were orbiting were Jaws, Indiana Jones, and the awe and wonder of the original Jurassic.”
Jurassic World Rebirth stomps into theaters everywhere Wednesday, July 2.
