What is The Woman in the Yard about?
Trauma frames the thematic backdrop for The Woman in the Yard, which afflicts an anguished mom named Ramona (Danielle Deadwyler) with a whole new slate of terrors even as she mourns the recent tragic death of her husband David (Russell Hornsby).
Bereft of her husband in the wake of a car accident, Ramona’s still mourning the loss at her family farmhouse alongside teenage son Taylor (aka “Tay,” played by Peyton Jackson) and her younger daughter Annie (Estella Kahiha). But it’s not long before a sinister woman, covered in black, appears seated on the grass just beyond her front door.
Ramona at first seems willing to chalk up the uninvited guest’s arrival to a simple case of the crazies — after all, why would a malevolent intruder make their presence so visible and obvious? But little by little, as the woman begins to draw closer, Ramona senses that this is “no ordinary figure and her intentions are anything but peaceful,” as the film’s synopsis ominously teases. “Now Ramona must rally to protect herself and her children from the grasp of the woman who simply won’t leave them alone.”
