Looking for some shaggy body horror? Peacock has you covered with the new Wolf Man movie, which is now streaming exclusively on the NBCUniversal platform. Directed by Leigh Whannell (Saw, The Invisible Man), who co-wrote the screenplay with Corbett Tuck, the film delivers a fresh new take on Universal’s 1941 werewolf classic, The Wolf Man.

Christopher Abbott (Poor Things) leads the contemporary reimagining as Blake Lovell, mild-mannered family man who is attacked by a vicious, yet unseen, creature while visiting his family home in the wilds of the Pacific Northwest. The injury seems to trigger an unknown and degenerative infection that slowly robs him of his humanity. All Blake’s wife, Charlotte (Julia Garner), and daughter, Ginger (Matilda Firth), can do is watch helplessly as the person they love gradually transforms into a bloodthirsty monster.

Where is Wolf Man (2025) streaming?

Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man is now streaming exclusively on Peacock.

In addition to writing and directing, Whannell also served as an executive producer on the movie alongside Beatriz Sequeira, Mel Turner, and Ken Kao. Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum earned a producer credit.

“In the past, the character of the werewolf has been wrapped around this big transformation, like the famous scene from An American Werewolf in London,” Whannell says in the official production notes. “That Wolf Man was superbly designed by Rick Baker and is the watermark for practical effects. It’s impossible to top what he did. So much so, that I thought that we should not try to improve upon that, but to take it in a completely different direction.”

He continues: “I started thinking about seeing the Wolf Man changing from the Wolf Man’s perspective. A lot of the Wolf Man history has been about this curse, and that a full Moon can bring it out in you. I wanted to do with this character what David Cronenberg did with The Fly. He drilled down to the essence of a previous film that could be considered quite comical. Same with John Carpenter’s The Thing. These movies take their monsters seriously and have no room for winking or poking fun.”
