Copper Keys are mysterious items you may be looking for in Palworld, so we’ll tell you how to get them. If you want to unlock locked chests, these are required.
I found a locked chest before I had found my first Copper Key, and was confused as to where you could get them. If you’re in the same boat, we can help you out.
Palworld: Where to find Copper Keys
Since I’m still near the beginning of my playthrough, there may be more undiscovered ways of finding these keys. But for now, how you can get Copper Keys in Palworld is from raiding enemy Pals. Occasionally, while you’re relaxing at your home base, you’ll get a warning notification that enemy Pals are raiding your base.
It’s now up to you and your Pals to defend yourselves. Make sure you’ve built yourself an Alarm Bell to tell the Pals at your base to get into combat mode. You can unlock this recipe in your Technology menu at level four. One of the few items raiding Pals can drop after you defeat them is Copper Keys.

By the end of my first raid, I had accumulated around three Copper Keys. With a Copper Key, head up to any chest you see glowing red. It’ll tell you that you need a Copper Key to open it. Once opened, I received a few nice rewards, such as Gold Coins, a few Pal Spheres, and an Old Bow Schematic.
There are also other chests that glow yellow you can find that don’t require keys at all. These will include similar rewards, but probably not ones as good as a new crafting recipe. Also, so far, I haven’t noticed a raid happen without me being at base. To my knowledge, you must be at your base for a raid to commence, and they happen entirely at random.
