You can make connections and build bonds with nearly every single party member in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, including the materia-obsessed ninja, Yuffie. She appears early on in the game, but only joins the party partway through the main story. This means you have less time to build up your relationship with Yuffie, but below, we’ve listed all of the major scenes and quests that affect her Bonds of Friendship meter.

Synergy Skills and Synergy Abilities

A quick way to gain friendship points for Yuffie is to use synergy skills and synergy abilities between her and Cloud. The first time you use each of these moves, you’ll get a small boost to Yuffie’s friendship meter. These are the folio skills you should use at least once:

  • Cloud Synergy Skill: Melee Blade/Spell Blade
  • Cloud Synergy Skill: Counterfire
  • Cloud Synergy Ability: Maelstrom Strike
  • Yuffie Synergy Skill: Ninja Bazooka
  • Yuffie Synergy Skill: Shuriken Sync
  • Yuffie Synergy Ability: Halcyon Descent

Conversations

There are several points in the main story when the party gets to relax and take time to think about their next plan of action. During these moments, remember to speak to Yuffie for important dialogue that affects her relationship with Cloud. Bonus points are awarded if you choose the correct dialogue options during these conversations, so we’ve listed the correct choices below for each chapter:

  • Chapter 6 when arriving in Costa del Sol: Choose the “Yeah. Obviously.” option when Yuffie mentions her beach look.
  • Chapter 6 when leaving Costa del Sol: When Yuffie challenges you to a fight and offers to join the party, choose the following options:
    • “Beat it.”
    • “Kinda.”
    • “…Sure.”
    • “…You can come with.”
  • Chapter 9 in Gongaga Village: Choose “Nice song. Funny too.” when Yuffie starts singing on the couch in Cissnei’s house.
  • Chapter 10 in Cosmo Canyon: Choose “Pretty much.” when everyone is gathered around the torch.
  • Chapter 11 in Nibelheim: Choose “Yup.” when Yuffie starts rambling about the materia on Mt. Nibel.

Side Quests

Side quests are always completed alongside specific party members and they provide huge boosts to the Bonds of Friendship meter. Be sure to take the time to complete a side quest whenever you see Yuffie get involved. Even though she joins the party in Chapter 6, there are still quite a few Yuffie-focused quests. Here’s the full list of Yuffie’s side quests, along with the chapter in which they appear:

  • Chapter 7 in Costa del Sol: The Saga of the Seaside Inn
  • Chapter 9 in Gongaga Village: Teach Me, Great Warrior
  • Chapter 10 in the Cosmo Canyon region chocobo stables: Bonds of Trust
  • Chapter 11 in Nibelheim: Esoteric Secrets of the Elders
  • Chapter 12 in Under Junon: Tides of War and Worry
  • Chapter 12 in Costa del Sol: Trouble in Paradise
  • Chapter 12 in Cosmo Canyon: Victim of Circumstance

Bonus Events

There are a couple of missable events involving Yuffie that also provide extra friendship points, so be sure to make the right choices when they pop up. Here’s what you need to look out for:

  • Chapter 7 at the Corel mines: When you regain control of Cloud, Aerith, and Red XIII, flip the switch on the mine cart tracks to make the route safe for Yuffie, Barret, and Tifa. Yuffie gets nauseous easily, so choosing the safe route and getting a high score will make her happy. Barret, on the other hand, wants more excitement. Choose the perilous route if you want to earn points for him.
  • Chapter 12 in the Golden Saucer: Challenge Yuffie to a battle in Wonderment Square while everyone is looking for Dio. Remember the prompts in the image above to avoid her attacks. Her special combo forces you to push the left stick forward, right stick forward, left stick forward, right stick forward, and then right stick forward one final time to dodge the entire string.

Yuffie as your Gold Saucer companion

Tifa and Aerith are considered the romantic relationship options, but if you focus on Yuffie and follow our suggestions above, Yuffie will be the one to approach Cloud for a friendly excursion in Chapter 12 after you rest at the Haunted Hotel in the Gold Saucer. The game will remind you that resting at the Haunted Hotel is a point of no return for the long night in Chapter 12, so make sure to keep an extra save file handy if you want to experience the night with other party members as well.
