A terrifying exploration of the dark places that our minds can take us, The Woman in the Yard, the latest horror collaboration between Universal Pictures and Blumhouse, is now in theaters (get tickets here).

An original story from screenwriter Sam Stefanak, The Woman in the Yard is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle CruiseOrphan) and stars Danielle Deadwyler (The Piano Lesson), Russell Hornsby (Creed II), Peyton Jackson (Respect), Estella Kahiha (Will Trent), and Okwui Okpokwasili (The Exorcist: Believer). Deadwyler plays Ramona, a woman overwhelmed by grief due to the recent loss of her husband (Hornsby), and her inability to address the toll it’s taking on her two children, Taylor and Annie. And then a malevolent entity starts camping out on the front lawn of their remote farmhouse!

“I could see this human story being told. And then these other things were interesting — motherhood, farm life, grief, sorting through confusion and difficulty and challenge, all these things that are pivotal to the human experience… There is something to be learned from the dark,” Deadwyler says of Ramona’s unique confrontation with the specter in her yard, per the film’s production notes.

But when you’re heading out to see Blumhouse’s latest psychological chiller, should you stay until the lights come up in the theater?

Does The Woman in the Yard have a post-credits scene?

No, there is no post-credits or mid-credits scene waiting for you during the credit roll of The Woman in the Yard

However, there is an original song co-written by composer Lorne Balfe that contains lyrics that augment the emotional journey taken by Ramona in the film.

Does The Woman in the Yard set up a sequel?

As far as the story of Ramona and her children is concerned, no, the film doesn’t set up a sequel. The ending of The Woman in the Yard makes it clear that this family’s story is complete. However, the specter of the Woman is implied to have a much broader reach than just how she touches Ramona’s family. What she represents could appear again in the same guise to someone else.

Or, it’s also just as likely the Woman could appear to someone else in an entirely different wardrobe, but be equally unsettling. That could be explored if The Woman in the Yard wants to delve more deeply into her mythology and background.

The Woman in the Yard is now in theaters. Get tickets at Fandango.

Is The Woman in the Yard streaming on Peacock?

No, the film is opening exclusively in theaters and not streaming. But like other Universal Pictures films, it will eventually stream on Peacock in the coming months.
