The Bill & Ted series began in 1989 with Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. It follows two California teens (played by Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves) who are about to flunk out of high school. However, they run into a man from the future named Rufus (George Carlin), who shows them how to time travel–enabling them to meet historical figures like Abe Lincoln and Billy the Kid–getting them a first-hand history education.
