Are you hoping to increase your gold in Blue Prince? Your coins are primarily used to purchase items, tools, and other resources in the game. Having more of the currency, naturally, makes playthroughs a breeze, especially if you can buy the stuff you need.
How to get more gold and Allowance Tokens in Blue Prince – Gold-making guide
There are several ways to earn more gold in the game. Generally speaking, you could find gold lying around in rooms and in dirt piles:
- Some rooms have gold that you can pick up by default–i.e. Pantry and Storeroom.
- You might also spot coins on the floor. Even better, if you have a Metal Detector, it will beep whenever a type of resource or item is nearby.
- If you have a Shovel, you can dig dirt piles, some of which yield coins, too.
- Certain treasure maps lead you to special dig spots. Your reward, the Coffers of Mt. Holly, may contain gold and other resources.
Rooms where you can obtain a lot of gold
There are several rooms that allow you to get more gold in Blue Prince:
- Vault – Has a pile of coins on the desk.
- Casino – If you want to test your luck, you can place bets and, hopefully, win big.
- Treasure Trove – The Treasure Trove gains +5 gold whenever you draft it. The more times you plop it down, the more gold you earn.
Increase your starting gold via Allowance Tokens
After obtaining your first Allowance Token in Blue Prince, an envelope will appear on the desk in the Entrance Hall. You can open this at the beginning to each run to receive additional starting gold. From here, all Allowance Tokens you acquire will continue to increase your gold from the envelope.
Below are some Blue Prince Allowance Token locations. Note that most of these come from Mora Jai puzzle boxes that you need to solve first.
Manor rooms
- Cloister – Press the two hidden buttons at the lower section of the pillars when facing the front of the statue. Pick up the Allowance Token at the back of the statue.
- Cloister of Lydia – This upgrade lets you gain +2 to your gold allowance whenever you draft a shop from the Cloister. (Thanks to Discord user Ket.)
- Master’s Bedroom, Solarium, and Closed Exhibit – Found inside Mora Jai puzzle boxes.
- Vault – The Vault Keys you obtain unlock deposit boxes that contain Allowance Tokens and other clues.
- Room 8 – Solve the Room 8 Puzzle to receive this reward.
- Tunnel – Draft eight consecutive Tunnel rooms in a straight line going to the north. The last Tunnel room has a Mora Jai puzzle box.
- Throne Room – You must reclaim the crown to spawn this Mora Jai puzzle box.
Outer rooms
- Trading Post – Complete the Mora Jai puzzle box in the area.
- Trading Post – Some valuable items can be exchanged for Allowance Tokens, too.
- Tomb – Bring something that can light candles/torches. Then, light the two candelabras along the left wall.
- Clock Tower – If you’ve already solved the Clock Tower Puzzle inside the manor. You can draft it outside using Blessing of the Monk. Solving the puzzle again nets you an Allowance Token. (Thanks to Discord user Raywill.)
- Entrance Hall – If you want to get this Allowance Token in Blue Prince, then you need to draft the Entrance Hall outside using Blessing of the Monk. Then, smash the same vase that previously contained a Microchip to receive a reward. (Thanks to Discord user MADH95.)
Underground
- Red Door – The section past the Red Door in the Underground has a red letter–i.e. part of the Safe Codes arc. Nearby, you’ll also spot a Mora Jai puzzle box.
- Reservoir – One of the chests in the basin after fully draining the Reservoir has a few Allowance Tokens.
- Inner Sanctum – You must first obtain the Sanctum Keys so you can solve the Sigil Puzzles. Once you’re done with each puzzle, you can check the nook off to the side for a Mora Jai puzzle box.
The fastest way to earn more gold
If you really want more gold in Blue Prince, then look no further than the Laboratory experiments cheese. Before you can do this, though, you need to obtain all Microchips so you can place them in the Sundial. Doing so nets you additional experiment triggers and effects.
The effect that you’re looking for is the one that increases your gold allowance. As for the causes/triggers, here are your best options:
- If you have a Nursery: Nurse’s Station upgrade, pick the trigger where you lose steps when you open your map. Since the Nurse’s Station restores your steps back to 20, you can gain allowance boosts indefinitely.
- If you have a Shovel and you drafted the Root Cellar, pick the one that procs when you dig up trash/garbage from dirt piles.
- One last option is if you have a Keycard, and if you’re able to draft the Security and Utility Closet. You can tweak the setting to have a higher number of security-locked doors. The more that you open or bypass, the more allowance you’d earn.
