While a father/son case of possible possession is the primary story in this week’s new SurrealEstate Season 3 episode, “Night Terrors,” the support stories are incredibly important to the Roman-Ireland Agency universe.

How to Watch

Watch new episodes of SurrealEstate Thursdays at 10/9c on SYFY.

In particular, there’s a new candidate for the front manager role, and Audrey is surprisingly great. And when Luke (Tim Rozon) and Susan (Sarah Levy) need better tech to help with their primary case of a father who helicopter parents his teen son because of a possible demon possession, it’s Auggie (Maurice Dean Wint) they turn to for the tech and expertise to save the child’s life.

In SYFY WIRE‘s SurrealEstate post mortem recap this week, we check in with Rozon and Levy about having a beloved familiar face return to the fold in “Night Terrors.”

Sarah Levy talks SurrealEstate Season 3, Episode 2, “Night Terrors”

In last week’s season premiere, Luke and Susan had now fledgling lawyer Zooey L’Enfant (Savannah Basley) come in to train a bro dude to answer phones and keep the Roman-Ireland office running. Turns out he was a hopeless case, and per Zooey’s advice, the co-owners are now serious about finding a true replacement. Audrey seems like the perfect candidate… until they reveal the supernatural parts of the gig, and she politely quits.

“With our show, we’re so used to new people in the houses. We’re used to new sellers, new buyers, new paranormal activity. But we’re not used to new co-workers,” Levy told SYFY WIRE of their ongoing dilemma of finding a quality replacement for the front chair. “Especially walking up to the desk in the [office] and somebody else is sitting at reception, there’s a bit of a record scratch when you see somebody else sitting there.”

Levy continued, “It does throw off the dynamic that you, as actors, have created with each other, seeing Savannah at the desk and [Maurice] stopping by, and all of our gang hanging in the office. Seeing somebody brand new, you’re not as comfortable moving through the set as actors would normally be. So it definitely was a bit of like life imitating art in that sense. And everyone’s so wonderful, and we’re so lucky to have such kind, wonderful, talented guest stars, but it is weird to see somebody working in the office that you’ve never met before.”

Maurice Dean Wint’s Auggie comes back to the Roman-Ireland Agency in SurrealEstate Season 3, Episode 2

After a three-year stint working in the R&D division of ASDRA, Auggie comes to an impasse in this episode. While he has loved working alongside his girlfriend Rochelle (Joy Tanner), he hasn’t enjoyed the dismissive nature of his co-workers that are all-in with the weapon-making shift of the company.

Things come to a head when Rochelle is up for a big promotion as an executive director, so she reiterates to Auggie that she needs to have a spotless record during the final decision-making period. But that bumps against Auggie being asked by Luke for help with their latest confounding paranormal case. Sympathetic to his former boss and the importance of the case, Auggie slips Luke a piece of needed gear on the sly from the ASDRA lockers, and then helps consult so the teen won’t suffer.

In the end, Auggie helps save a life and tells Rochelle what he did. She’s livid and fires him… and maybe that’s for the best. Luke and Susan welcome their tech expert back into the fold, and another piece of their found family puzzle snaps back into place.

“[Roman-Ireland] is where he’s supposed to be,” Rozon said of Auggie’s big return. “I don’t know how we all ended up together there as a group, but it was meant to be. That’s always going to be the safest place he knows in his heart, and Auggie knows. Even though his heart is drawn towards the woman he loves, for him to be happy, it’s helping people. And as much as I think ASDRA does that, it’s not in the same capacity, and it doesn’t come from the same place that I think Roman-Ireland does. We’re really good people at the end of the day. We really care about the people that we’re trying to help, first and foremost. And I think that’s what Auggie really takes to heart. We’re just another piece of that heart.”
